Charles is excited for what the future of Generocksity has in store!
Chloe Fu: Co-President
Chloe is a 4th year Finance student at University of British Columbia currently studying abroad in Madrid, Spain until returning to her beloved Vancouver team. She joined the co-founders in 2014 as a street team member when she derived her passion for Generocksity from learning about the many causes in the community and recognizing the potential UBC holds to help them. Her favorite aspect of the team continues to be working with such talented and incredible people, who have made Generocksity her most fond experience in university. She spends her free time dancing, skiing, and appreciating craft beer, wine and her favorite food: cheese.
Anne Wyrough: Vice President
Anne is a fourth year student at the University of British Columbia working towards a Bachelors of Kinesiology and a future masters in physiotherapy. She enthusiastically pursues living, learning, and promoting a healthy lifestyle as both a personal trainer and a research assistant at Vancouver Coastal Health's Hip Mobility and Cognitive Neuroscience lab. Anne has been a member of Generocksity since her first year in University and can confidently say Generocksity has served an integral part in her growth as a leader and finding her purpose on a campus of over 50,000 students. She loves planning team retreats, scavenger hunts, and fun things to spark creativity and facilitate teamwork. Although graduation is in site, Generocksity will always hold a very special place in her heart. She feels this organization has given her a family away from home and a book full of stories and life lessons that will last a lifetime.
Tommy Campbell: VP Promo
Tommy is a third-year commerce student at the University of British Columbia specializing in entrepreneurship. When he’s not cherishing pad thai and rehearsing dad joke material, he’s practicing in the fields of graphic design, brand strategy, and digital marketing; skills which he one day hopes to find himself offering to a startup social enterprise. Tommy’s favourite colour is #000044 and his close friends liken him to a young Audrey Hepburn. He’s a voracious reader, moderately impressive juggler, and lover of the great outdoors.
Christina Botros: VP Events
Christina is a fourth year integrated science student specializing in immunovirology and nutrition. In addition to serving as VP events on Generocksity, she's one of the coordinators of UBC nutrikids, a program that pairs groups of volunteers with elementary school classrooms to conduct nutrition workshops. She's also a science squad leader and volunteers in the greater Vancouver community. Christina has always had a passion for helping people: her life long dream and passion is to pursue medicine so she can personally help people through her career. Generocksity is a way for her to give back to the community in a different way, and it has completely changed her life. She's proud of how the organization has grown in the past few years and is honoured to be a part of it, and can't wait to see where it'll go in the future.
Marina Favaro: VP Events
Marina is an International Relations student in her final year at UBC. She joined Generocksity Vancouver – at that time the only Generocksity chapter – which, to this day, is an organization that she has been proud to witness her best friends establish, operate, and grow. Marina came to the team with six years of experience working within the music production community in Vancouver and sought to bridge Vancouver’s music scene with UBC’s philanthropic scene. This dream turned into a reality when she organized Generocksity’s first-ever music festival on Labour Day 2016. Marina’s position within Generocksity has been multifaceted – as they all are – but primarily has focused on the nitty-gritty of music production, finding talent for the shows, and event planning. All this is encompassed in Marina’s role as VP of Events.
DuPreez Smith: Charity Coordinator
DuPreez is a third year Kinesiology student at UBC. He is involved with various groups on campus such as the Kinesiology Undergraduate Society, Student Health Caucus, AMS, and more. DuPreez was a member of the original Generocksity street team and has since taken on the roles of VP Education, and currently, Charity Coordinator. DuPreez joined Generocksity because he feels that he has been incredibly fortunate in his life and is in a position to give back. He feels that due to his circumstance it is a responsibility for himself and other students to return the favour and help those in need. He hopes to continue to make a difference as a Doctor one day and will always be connected to Generocksity in some way.
Katie Stannard: VP Education
Katie is an International Relations student in her third year at UBC. She is interested in sustainable development and improving lives through unconventional ways. Katie is passionate about Generocksity because it aims to improve philanthropic culture on campus and provide an outlet for students to give back in creative ways. Her goal this year was to educate more students on philanthropy in the Vancouver area and she has achieved this through the new philanthropic database.
Anna Mackenzie: Chief Operating Officer
Anna is a second year science student majoring in biology. When she isn't studying, she enjoys playing soccer, hiking or running. This is her second year in Generocksity and it has been the highlight of her university experience so far. She joined because she wanted to be apart of a community at UBC but was not expecting how much fun being philanthropic can be when working with such an amazing team. She is excited to see Generocksity grow in the years to come.
Megan Gardner: Street Team Coordinator
Hey there! I am a 3rd year Kinesiology Student minoring in Psychology. I enjoy a good swim at the UBC pool, a stroll through Pacific Spirit Park, homemade guacamole, and the occasional cinnamon bun from Grounds for Coffee (worth checking it out if you're ever in the neighborhood). Generocksity has allowed me to express my desire to give back to the community in unconventional and creative ways. The passionate, loving and humorous team has and will always be a group of people that I can consider family. Generocksity has been the organization that has shaped and grounded me throughout my undergraduate degree here at UBC and I am forever thankful for that.
Caitlin Geary: Director of Workshops
Caitlin is a third year student studying Kinesiology at UBC. She is also a member of the Varsity Track and Field Team. When she is not running in circles or hitting the books you can find her cooking with her roomies, watching suits or spending time outdoors. Caitlin has always had a passion for giving back in her local community and she loves that Generocksity is continuously finding innovative and unconventional ways to be philanthropic. She is so grateful to be a part of the Generocksity family and hopes to keep inspiring other students to change the way they give.
Nick Echeverria: Secretary and Treasurer
Nick is a fourth year Science student majoring in Infectious Disease and Human Physiology. When not in the library, you'll find him socializing at the campus pub or (rarely) at the gym. Being heavily involved in UBCs Greek system, he is always promoting how easily accessible philanthropy can be to the many different organizations that comprise it. His involvement in Generocksity is driven by his eagerness to bring campus groups together for the benefit of the greater community and he looks forward to his third and final year at UBC's hottest non-profit!
Lauren Barnett: Sponsorship Coordinator
Lauren is in her second year of Kinesiology at UBC, minoring in biology. Her past experience volunteering and working with children has developed a passion for serving youth within the community. She is a city girl from Toronto, who is an avid cycler, smoothie enthusiast, and is always in search of the perfect coffee shop. Lauren is excited to work with Generocksity this year, and is looking forward to growing within the organization.
Saif Akkad: VP Volunteering
Saif Akkad: Community Service Coordinator Saif is an undergraduate at UBC's Faculty of Science. In his spare time Saif enjoys volunteering, hitting the gym and spending time with his fraternity brothers and friends. His role as Generocksity Community Service Coordinator is driven by his desire to aid the vulnerable in his community and engage other students to find their own preferred form of community service.
Christopher Goodchild: Production Manager
Christopher Goodchild is a former UBC English major who has been a part of the Vancouver music community since September 2012, as both a performing musician and event organizer. As a music producer and audio engineer, he has worked with numerous artists in a variety of genres, recording and mixing music on a daily basis.
