Charles is currently an undergraduate student at the University of British Columbia in the Faculty of Kinesiology. In his spare time, Charles participates in multiple recreational sports leagues and enjoys being involved in his faculty. His involvement in Generocksity is driven by his passion to give back to his community, his desire to throw impactful charitable events, and love of working with a team of outstanding individuals. Charles is excited for what the future of Generocksity has in store!
Chloe is a 4th year Finance student at University of British Columbia currently studying abroad in Madrid, Spain until returning to her beloved Vancouver team. She joined the co-founders in 2014 as a street team member when she derived her passion for Generocksity from learning about the many causes in the community and recognizing the potential UBC holds to help them. Her favorite aspect of the team continues to be working with such talented and incredible people, who have made Generocksity her most fond experience in university. She spends her free time dancing, skiing, and appreciating craft beer, wine and her favorite food: cheese.
Anne is a fourth year student at the University of British Columbia working towards a Bachelors of Kinesiology and a future masters in physiotherapy. She enthusiastically pursues living, learning, and promoting a healthy lifestyle as both a personal trainer and a research assistant at Vancouver Coastal Health's Hip Mobility and Cognitive Neuroscience lab. Anne has been a member of Generocksity since her first year in University and can confidently say Generocksity has served an integral part in her growth as a leader and finding her purpose on a campus of over 50,000 students. She loves planning team retreats, scavenger hunts, and fun things to spark creativity and facilitate teamwork. Although graduation is in site, Generocksity will always hold a very special place in her heart. She feels this organization has given her a family away from home and a book full of stories and life lessons that will last a lifetime.
Tommy is a third-year commerce student at the University of British Columbia specializing in entrepreneurship. When he’s not cherishing pad thai and rehearsing dad joke material, he’s practicing in the fields of graphic design, brand strategy, and digital marketing; skills which he one day hopes to find himself offering to a startup social enterprise. Tommy’s favourite colour is #000044 and his close friends liken him to a young Audrey Hepburn. He’s a voracious reader, moderately impressive juggler, and lover of the great outdoors.
Christina is a fourth year integrated science student specializing in immunovirology and nutrition. In addition to serving as VP events on Generocksity, she's one of the coordinators of UBC nutrikids, a program that pairs groups of volunteers with elementary school classrooms to conduct nutrition workshops. She's also a science squad leader and volunteers in the greater Vancouver community. Christina has always had a passion for helping people: her life long dream and passion is to pursue medicine so she can personally help people through her career. Generocksity is a way for her to give back to the community in a different way, and it has completely changed her life. She's proud of how the organization has grown in the past few years and is honoured to be a part of it, and can't wait to see where it'll go in the future.
Marina is an International Relations student in her final year at UBC. She joined Generocksity Vancouver – at that time the only Generocksity chapter – which, to this day, is an organization that she has been proud to witness her best friends establish, operate, and grow. Marina came to the team with six years of experience working within the music production community in Vancouver and sought to bridge Vancouver’s music scene with UBC’s philanthropic scene. This dream turned into a reality when she organized Generocksity’s first-ever music festival on Labour Day 2016. Marina’s position within Generocksity has been multifaceted – as they all are – but primarily has focused on the nitty-gritty of music production, finding talent for the shows, and event planning. All this is encompassed in Marina’s role as VP of Events.
DuPreez is a third year Kinesiology student at UBC. He is involved with various groups on campus such as the Kinesiology Undergraduate Society, Student Health Caucus, AMS, and more. DuPreez was a member of the original Generocksity street team and has since taken on the roles of VP Education, and currently, Charity Coordinator. DuPreez joined Generocksity because he feels that he has been incredibly fortunate in his life and is in a position to give back. He feels that due to his circumstance it is a responsibility for himself and other students to return the favour and help those in need. He hopes to continue to make a difference as a Doctor one day and will always be connected to Generocksity in some way.
Katie is an International Relations student in her third year at UBC. She is interested in sustainable development and improving lives through unconventional ways. Katie is passionate about Generocksity because it aims to improve philanthropic culture on campus and provide an outlet for students to give back in creative ways. Her goal this year was to educate more students on philanthropy in the Vancouver area and she has achieved this through the new philanthropic database.
Anna is a second year science student majoring in biology. When she isn't studying, she enjoys playing soccer, hiking or running. This is her second year in Generocksity and it has been the highlight of her university experience so far. She joined because she wanted to be apart of a community at UBC but was not expecting how much fun being philanthropic can be when working with such an amazing team. She is excited to see Generocksity grow in the years to come.
Hey there! I am a 3rd year Kinesiology Student minoring in Psychology. I enjoy a good swim at the UBC pool, a stroll through Pacific Spirit Park, homemade guacamole, and the occasional cinnamon bun from Grounds for Coffee (worth checking it out if you're ever in the neighborhood). Generocksity has allowed me to express my desire to give back to the community in unconventional and creative ways. The passionate, loving and humorous team has and will always be a group of people that I can consider family. Generocksity has been the organization that has shaped and grounded me throughout my undergraduate degree here at UBC and I am forever thankful for that.
Caitlin is a third year student studying Kinesiology at UBC. She is also a member of the Varsity Track and Field Team. When she is not running in circles or hitting the books you can find her cooking with her roomies, watching suits or spending time outdoors. Caitlin has always had a passion for giving back in her local community and she loves that Generocksity is continuously finding innovative and unconventional ways to be philanthropic. She is so grateful to be a part of the Generocksity family and hopes to keep inspiring other students to change the way they give.
Nick is a fourth year Science student majoring in Infectious Disease and Human Physiology. When not in the library, you'll find him socializing at the campus pub or (rarely) at the gym. Being heavily involved in UBCs Greek system, he is always promoting how easily accessible philanthropy can be to the many different organizations that comprise it. His involvement in Generocksity is driven by his eagerness to bring campus groups together for the benefit of the greater community and he looks forward to his third and final year at UBC's hottest non-profit!
Lauren is in her second year of Kinesiology at UBC, minoring in biology. Her past experience volunteering and working with children has developed a passion for serving youth within the community. She is a city girl from Toronto, who is an avid cycler, smoothie enthusiast, and is always in search of the perfect coffee shop. Lauren is excited to work with Generocksity this year, and is looking forward to growing within the organization.
Saif Akkad: Community Service Coordinator
Saif is an undergraduate at UBC's Faculty of Science. In his spare time Saif enjoys volunteering, hitting the gym and spending time with his fraternity brothers and friends. His role as Generocksity Community Service Coordinator is driven by his desire to aid the vulnerable in his community and engage other students to find their own preferred form of community service.
Christopher Goodchild is a former UBC English major who has been a part of the Vancouver music community since September 2012, as both a performing musician and event organizer. As a music producer and audio engineer, he has worked with numerous artists in a variety of genres, recording and mixing music on a daily basis. Originally invited to perform at Generocksity events such as Get Luck at Library Square Public House (2014), Chris became involved with the executive team when he was invited to work as a Production Manager in the fall of 2016. Since then, he has aided Generocksity Vancouver in his live sound and musical knowledge, helping the team orchestrate wildly successful events such as You Be Sea Music Festival, Warehouse and [Re]New Years.
Christian Schroeder: Street Team Member
Christian is currently an undergraduate student at the University of British Colombia in the department of Electrical Engineering. When he's not hard at work studying, Christian spends his free time rock climbing and cycling around the Vancouver area. His ambition in life is to become a successful innovator/entrepreneur and use any of his success to continue pushing the world towards a sustainable future. Lastly, Christian's dedication to Generocksity stems from his passion to motivate others about philanthropy and his desire to give back.
Simran is a second year biology student, and when she isn’t studying you can probably find her hanging with friends, shopping or at a concert. Her love for philanthropy was nurtured from a young age, where her elementary school instilled values of selflessness and leadership within her. Her philanthropic endeavours have taken her all the way from Kenya to Arizona, and she is excited to work on a more local scale in Vancouver, where she hopes to see Generocksity soar to new heights, and get young people on campus stoked about giving back!
Drew is a third-year student working towards a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Political Science. He is also a member of the UBC Men’s Varsity Rugby Club, and in his spare time can be found writing or playing D&D with friends. Drew joined Generocksity in order to be more involved in campus life at UBC, as well as to give back to the amazing community of the lower mainland of British Columbia, which he has had the privilege to call home his whole life. Easy to spot in a crowd, Drew brings a vibrancy and enthusiasm to his role as a member of the Generocksity street team and strives at every event to make partying for a good cause even more of a blast than it already is.
Becca is a 3rd year psychology student who is passionate about laughing, dancing, hugging, and making meaningful connections with incredible people. Generocksity means a lot to Becca because it allows countless opportunities for her to give back and share the love. Outside of Generocksity, she is Vice President of the Thunderbird Dance Team, a jazz and hip hop performance team at UBC, where she exercises her creative outlet through choreo and team spirit. If you ever need to find Becca and you are in a rush, you will likely find her at a hot dog stand, on the dance floor, or napping. You may even see her napping on the dance floor while eating a hot dog.
Alex is currently studying Chemical and Biological Engineering, at UBC. When he’s not working on his next assignment, he’s an amateur film photographer and his favourite roll of film is Ilford 400. He thinks he has really good taste in music and likes to discover underground artists, where he attends many of their concerts. Alex joined Generocksity because he would like to make a difference in his local community. He believes that even the smallest of efforts can go a long way.
Martina is currently a second year undergraduate biochemistry student, and is overjoyed to be coming on board with the Generocksity team this fall. In her spare time, you can catch Martina breaking it down with the UBC Dance Team or Thunderbird Dance Team, where she also holds the role of Vice President Internal. She has always had a very strong appreciation and love for giving back through volunteer work within her hometown on Vancouver Island. Martina is excited to create new ways for making philanthropy and volunteer appealing and easily accessible at UBC within the campus community.
Mira Hayre: Promotional Team Member
Mira is a first-year commerce student at University of British Columbia. When she’s not laughing at bad puns or hitting the books you can find her on the field hockey field. Outside of Generocksity, Mira is also involved in Me Inc. Conference, a conference aimed to help undergraduates find their values and align them with a career. Helping people in all ways has always been hugely integrated in her life. She is beyond spread her energy, positivity and passion for philanthropy with the UBC community.
I am a second year Science student at UBC currently transferring into Commerce. Aside from school, I have a strong interest in the fashion industry and currently have a part time job at Aritzia. In my spare time, you can probably catch me out with friends eating lots of food and listening to good music.
I went into second year with the goal of increasing my involvement on campus, and when Generocksity shared that they were hiring I took it as the perfect opportunity to do so. The harmonious blend of philanthropy, music + events, and most importantly the amazing people are the reason why I love Generocksity.
I'm a 2nd year Kin student who loves overly sized plush toys and coloured pens. I'm so grateful to be a part of the wonderful community that is Generocksity and I can't wait to see the amazing things a little love and charity can do.
