Shira was born in Jerusalem and moved to Vancouver at the young age of 2, she has since grown up and is currently a second year student living in Montreal. She attends McGill University and is earning an undergraduate degree in commerce in the Desautels Faculty of Management. Always having had an entrepreneurial spirit she believes that if you are going to do something, you need to do it passionately and wholeheartedly; and in doing so, success will prevail. She aims to integrate these beliefs into the foundation of Generocksity Montreal and cannot wait to bring together young adults throughout Montreal for such a positive cause.
Joelle Moses: Co-President
Joelle is a second year student at McGill university, studying Psychology and International Development. She has always had a strong belief that with every single act committed out of pure kindness and altruism, one can make a significant impact in this world, while inspiring others to do the same. Joelle takes full advantage of her inability to sit still, and has otherwise occupied her time with regular volunteering at a library and seniors residence, working closely with special needs students, leading school clubs centered around leadership and philanthropy, doing yoga, drawing, baking, and swimming in the ocean. Joelle is a passionate optimist who believes that everyone deserves to be helped, and that the need for help is infinite; and she is extremely excited to make a tangible change in her community through Generocksity Montreal!
Quinn Halman: VP of Communications
Quinn Halman is the VP Communications for Generocksity’s Montreal chapter while she also pursues a degree in English Cultural Studies at McGill University. This past summer Quinn was an editorial intern at Man Repeller and has had her words published in Teen Vogue and The New Yorker. Quinn has a passion for community service that has taken her from Camp Oochigeas, a sleepover camp for kids with cancer, to a small school in rural India, and now a new and unique opportunity has risen with Generocksity. She is looking forward to working with a team of her peers and getting all sorts of Montreal’s cultural mosaic to come together for a good cause.
Daniel Alberga: VP of Finance
Daniel is a fourth year student in the Faculty of Management at McGill, pursuing a major in Finance and a concentration in Entrepreneurship. Born and raised in Toronto, he enjoys travelling and learning about new cultures, and is interested in clean technology, international affairs, and impact investing. Daniel is passionate about the social economy and has experience working in the renewable energy finance sector. As a member of the Montreal Generocksity team, he is excited to give back to his community and provide crucial support to worthy charities.
Galia Horwitz: VP of Event Coordination
Galia Horwitz is a third-year student in the faculty of arts at McGill University, pursuing a major in sociology and a minor in marketing. After school, she wants to pursue a marketing career in the health and fitness industry. Galia has always had a passion for sports and athletics - she loves to bike, hike, run, swim, and spend time in the amazing outdoors Vancouver has to offer. Galia loves organizing and putting together events for her family and friends, whether it is just a casual weekend get away with a few close friends or an elegant evening, she loves bringing people together through enjoyment and celebration. She is definitely looking forward to helping with and orchestrating a number of Generocksity events that bring people together and help raise money and awareness for various important causes.
Zach Burak: VP of Production
Zach is entering his third year of Anatomy & Cell Biology major at McGill University, with future hopes of entering Med school. He is very involved with the local nightlife, promoting at clubs and throwing private events. A true science student, but holds the work hard play hard mentality. Zach is excited to bring his passion for philanthropy and networking together by being a member of Generocksity.
Zavi Moses: VP of External Affairs
Zavi is a fourth year student at McGill University, studying Business and majoring in Accounting. She has just returned from a semester abroad in Singapore and travelling around South East Asia. Her love for traveling and exploring around the world drives her passion to give back to the community. Zavi is thrilled to be part of the team starting Generocksity in Montreal!
Sydney Palter: VP of Promotion
Syd is a second year McGill student in the Desautels Management Program. She has always been passionate about being involved in both extra-curricular activities and community service. Syd has always loved sports – favouring hockey and downhill skiing and incorporated athletics into her life. On the community service side, Syd has participated in many telethons and volunteered at galas, while also choosing large initiatives each year to focus on. She is very excited to head up the promotion for Generocksity Montreal and join the Generocksity community.
Rachel Kahn: Graphic Designer
Rachel Kahn is studying at Parsons The New School for Design in Manhattan, NYC — majoring in Communication Design. Her studies include print and digital design, typography, and coding. Her favourite area to work within is print, as she thinks paper is the most interesting medium, and believes in its re-birth within the digital age. Being born and raised in Vancouver, BC, she has a great appreciation for the outdoors and loves hiking. Her favourite genre of music is disco, and her go-to karaoke song is Like A Prayer by Madonna.
